Jay Jorge Alvarez fled Cuba by boat with his entire family in 1964. He was 4½ years old at the time. Alvarez plays various family members, most movingly the role of his mother who was terrified of venturing into the shark-infested waters of the Florida Straight. A moving and humorously human story, acclaimed by critics as the "very best of solo performances", Alvarez returns to Miami after his recent success in New York!!!

Be Careful! The Sharks Will Eat You! is part of the Cuban Museum’s Sweet Home Museo Cubano series, sponsored in part by the Knight Foundation and Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs..
