Brazilian Film Festival 2014 presented by Inffinito Group

Aug 16 through Aug 24

The Brazilian Film Festival celebrates 18 years showcasing the diversity of the latest films made in Brazil in South Florida. In addition to highlight the vibrant talent among Brazilian filmmakers, BRAFF 2014 will remember Vinicius de Moraes, one of Brazil’s most celebrated cultural icons, with a special screening. His songs can be heard in several movies, including in the documentary Vinicius, by Miguel Faria Jr., about his life and career, to be shown on August 17 at the Miami Beach Cinematheque.

The competitive screening opens on Aug. 20 at the Colony Theatre. Eight shorts and nine feature films will be competing for the Crystal Lens Award in several categories, best film, director, actor and best actress. The Festival films were curated by a group of renowned professionals from the Brazilian audiovisual industry, including actress Betty Faria, notorious for her interpretation of Tieta in the 1989 telenovela by the same name. Some of the biggest stars have confirmed their presence at the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami, such as actor Reynaldo Gianecchini, from S.O.S. Women Overboard, by Chris D’Amato, and actresses Regina Duarte, Never too Old do Meow, and Leona Cavali from Golden Oldies
