| Mosaic Theatre 9th Anniversary Season |
From Sep 10th, 2009 through Jun 10th, 2010. Mosaic Theatre has recently announced their 2009-2010 Season with a line up that promises to be their best yet. The new season starts on September 2009 and will run until June 2010. The first show will be Rock 'n" Roll by Tom Stoppard running from September 10th through October 4th, 2009. This extraordinary theatrical event, from four-time Tony Award winner Tom Stoppard, is making its Southeastern Premiere following a record-breaking run on Broadway and in London's West End. It's August 1968, and Russian tanks are rolling into Prague... Jan, the Czech student, lives for rock music; Max, the English professor, lives for Communism; and Esme, the flower child, is high. By 1990, the tanks are rolling out, the Stones are rolling in and idealism has hit the wall. Stoppard's sweeping and passionate play spans two countries, three generations and 22 turbulent years, at the end of which, love remains - and so does rock 'n' roll. The second show will be Why Torture is Wrong, And the People Who Love Them by Christopher Durang, running from November 19th through December 3rd, 2009. Christopher Durang turns political humor upside down with this raucous and provocative satire about America's growing homeland "insecurity." Why Torture is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them tells the story of a young woman suddenly in crisis: Is her new husband, whom she married when drunk, a terrorist? Or just crazy? Or both? Is her father's hobby of butterfly collecting really a cover for his involvement in a shadow government? Why does her mother enjoy going to the theater so much? Does she seek mental escape, or is she insane? The third show of the season will be Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn, running from February 25th through March 21st, 2010. Over twenty hits from one artist's exceptional career unite in splendid harmony in Make Me a Song: The Music of William Finn. Effortlessly woven together, these treasured tunes by the composer of the acclaimed Falsettos series and the Tony Award-winning smash hit The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee tell personal, haunting and often hilarious tales from Finn's rich and touching songbook. The fourth show will be Boeing Boeing by Marc Camoletti, Adapted by Beverley Cross, running from April 15th through May 9th, 2010. Revived on Broadway in 2008 in a Tony-winning production, this 1960's French farce adapted for the English-speaking stage features self-styled Parisian lothario Bernard, who has French, German and American fiancées, all beautiful airline hostesses with frequent "layovers." He keeps "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris and Bernard's apartment at the same time. The last show of the season, scheduled to run from Jun 3rd through 27th, 2010, will be announced shortly.
