Les Ballets Trockadero. Humor. Comedy. All-Male Ballet!

Sunday, Feb 15, 2015

Founded in 1974, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo are a critical and audience favorite and have appeared in more than 30 countries and 500 cities around the world. The company of professional male dancers perform the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, including classical and original works in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. Their Miami engagement will include, among others, “Swan Lake Act II,” “Go For Barocco,” and “Paquita.”

The comedy of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance. The fact that men dance all the parts – heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, sylphs, water sprites, romantic princesses, or angst-ridden Victorian ladies – enhances, rather than mocks, the spirit of dance as an art form, delighting and amusing the most knowledgeable, as well as novices, in the audiences.
“Inventive, humorous and world-class, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo is a must-see for dance aficionados who will delight in the company’s take on the classics as well as for entertainment-hungry audiences who will thoroughly enjoy the company’s funny yet skillful take on dance,” said John Richard, president and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center. “It is a true pleasure to continue bringing this level of artistry to South Florida each year thanks to support from Knight Foundation.”

America’s all-male ballet parodists proved once again they have the technique to go with the humour.”
