Jorge Jrisinco. Ongoing. The Americas Collection is currently presenting a solo show titled Childhood Toys and Captured Memories by artist Jorge Jrisinco. The subject matter in Jrisinco's paintings revolves around his recollection of happy moments spent playing with homemade toys during his childhood years in Argentina.
Despite the absence of today's overload of technological advances, the intensity and purity of the feelings experienced in the company of such simple objects, some of which were even made by the artist himself, managed to leave an unforgettable imprint in Jrisinco's psyche.
His nostalgic memories and the need to shorten the invisible bridge that separates them from his idealized perception of happiness has become, therefore, the inspirational fuel that motivates this artist to try to capture and somehow relive those innocent yet powerful feelings through his artwork.
Jorge Jrisinco's paintings are charged with an expressive force that does not necessarily reveal his initial motivations. It can be said that once his brush touches the surface of the canvas, the subject matter takes a back seat to give way to a total freedom of expression that only an abstract expressionist can achieve.
