WLRN reporter Nadege Green gets together with local filmmakers, Terence Price II and Faren Humes, as they discuss the ways they use film to represent and redefine Black communities in Miami.
Humes’ latest short film, Liberty, follows the story of two friends living in Liberty City, a community undergoing gentrification. Price uses photography and film to depict his neighborhood of Carol City and provides an alternative narrative than is commonly found in the media.
Following the conversation, join us for the opening of his exhibition, Terence Price II: Never Ending Gardens, which includes new and recent street photography and videos that address familial rites of passage, preserving history, gun violence, and community celebrations.
The exhibition is part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Exhibition Series, which addresses issues of race, diversity, social justice, civil rights, and humanity to serve as a catalyst for dialogue and to enrich our community with new perspectives.
