All About You" to Benefit Act4Me

Apr 16, 2015. 6:00 - 9:00pm

Miami Artist Bénédicte Blanc-Fontenille invites viewers to examine life’s precious, passing moments and to help Miami’s precious special needs children. Bénédicte Blanc-Fontenille is a French artist, a 1985 graduate of L’Ecole des Beaux Arts, living and working in Miami since 2001. Throughout her nearly 30-year career as a visual artist, she has been inspired by one simple yet profound observation: That humanity—in fact, life itself—is extremely fragile, and yet, it is our knowledge of this fact that causes us to constantly move, building up and tearing down, rising and falling, rejoicing and grieving … then doing it all over again.

To Bénédicte, this constant movement represents a succession of moments, and as the French philosopher, Gaston Bachelard, wrote: "Time has only one reality, that of the moment." And yet, adds Bénédicte, "In every present moment there lurks a suggestion of renewal, a projection of a future moment, or the promise of more movement."

While much of Bénédicte’s work is fun and playful, it also serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and our brief time on Earth. Her work is all about movement, energy, balance and capturing fleeting moments. Bénédicte’s art is all about life. Her art is all about you.

"All About You" will be on exhibit until April 30, 2015. Bénédicte will donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of her artwork to Act4Me.
