Arts At St. Johns presents Piazzolla Concert with Tomas Cotik and Tao Lin

This concert celebrates Astor Piazzolla’s remarkable achievements on the 20th anniversary of his death. Born in Argentina, Piazzolla created the Tango Nuevo with elements of Jazz, Rock, Classical Music, Klezmer and traditional Tangos. An evening of exquisite music in the tango tradition, celebrating Hispanic Heritage month. The program includes Histoire du Tango, Le Grand Tango, La Muerte del Angel, Libertango, and some of the most beautiful and challenging works by Astor Piazzolla.

Hailed by Michael Tilson Thomas as “an excellent violinist,” violinist Tomas Cotik is originally from Argentina. The Palm Beach Arts Paper praised his “laudable level of technical accuracy” as well as his “tenderness and warmth.” He is currently a teaching assistant and doctoral student at the University of Miami. Mr. Cotik is a member of the Delray String Quartet. Prior to this he acted as concertmaster of the New World Symphony, Amarillo Symphony and Minas Gerais Philharmonic as well as first violinist of the Harrington String Quartet.

A Chinese-American artist, Tao Lin has performed internationally as a soloist with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Winnipeg Symphony, and the Harid Philharmonia, among other companies. Lin is also a collaborative artist and is currently professor of piano and head of collaborative piano at Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music.

Tickets are $20.00 at door; $15 seniors or online; $5 at the door for students with ID; Military with family, with ID, free. Donations are welcomed.
