Art at St. Johns, located at 4760 Pine Tree Drive in Miami Beach, is presenting a free playreading featuring local actors including Kevin Johnson and director Betsy Paull-Rick, who are volunteering their time to breathe life into this Inge classic. There is minimal blocking and set design and the actors will perform their parts with script in hand. Since 2004, Johnson, now Conundrum Stages, has given both actors and audience members the opportunity to experience some forgotten gems in playwriting. Summer Brave is the rewritten version of Picnic; only that author William Inge preferred this play to his original, calling Summer Brave more humorously true.
