Wed 6 Dec, 2017 - Sun 10 Dec, 2017

ArtSpot Miami, a high-end satellite art fair taking place within and in conjunction with Redwood Media Group’s renowned art shows during Art Week Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach, today announced this year’s exhibitor list and special show highlights, including the art project “Made in the USA.” The fair, directed and founded by Aldo Castillo, takes place Wednesday, December 6 – Sunday, December 10 in Miami’s Art and Entertainment District.

ArtSpot, a forward thinking art fair specializing in modern and contemporary art, offers innovative and alternative art to affluent collectors, worldwide art institutions, designers, architects and art enthusiasts. The five-day fine art experience gathers prominent contemporary artists and galleries from Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, the United States, South Africa, Japan, Germany, Greece and beyond. Show director, Aldo Castillo, worked diligently to hand-select a range of artists, galleries and subject matter to cater to high-end collectors.

A few feature exhibitors and galleries that will be exhibiting at this year’s ArtSpot, include:

  • The Athens Gallery, Greece, will showcase Greek artist, Apostol, whose works are in private collections in homes around the world, including a recent purchase by Madonna. Working with the ancient lost-wax casting process, Apostol, creates molds for bronze sculptures that range from less than two feet to more than twelve feet in height.
  • MosArt Furniture, USA, whose works are inspired by the great artists practicing in the Abstract Expressionism, Abstract Illusionism, Neo-Plasticism, Cubism, and Modernism Fine art movements in both their form and decorative surfaces while creating hand crafted furniture in the finest tradition.
  • Pascoe Gallery, USA, will present South African Ardmore Ceramic Art modeled and hand-painted by talented Zulu artists.
  • Matt Stock, USA, who creates hyper-realistic night time photographs with a technique referred to as painting with light, will display a work from his Abandoned Vehicles of the Everglades series. In addition, 16 of the most acclaimed works from this series will be on display at Historic Biltmore Hotel from December 6 – 10.
  • Aldo Castillo Gallery, USA, will display work from North Korean artist, Keiko Hara. Hara’s art carries an aura of integrity given her considerable breadth and technical expertise. The gallery will also exhibit photography works by Spanish artist, Lluís Barba, and Argentinean artist, Nina Surel.

This year, ArtSpot Miami will feature a 5th Anniversary VIP party for special guests, collectors and exhibitors on Friday, December 8, to celebrate 5 years of ArtSpot Miami working in conjunction with Redwood Media Group. ArtSpot Miami will also showcase ArtSpot 2017 Art Project: “Made in the USA,” curated by show director, Aldo Castillo, that represents a diverse cultural group of artists depicting what that phrase means to them through their works. The series will feature a range of art pieces with subjects such as cultural heritage and identification to political ideology and social issues affecting today’s society.

ArtSpot Miami has commissioned a work of art for its 2017 Art Project: “Made in the USA,” from Atlanta-based political, social and cultural artist Fabian Williams. Williams is a contemporary artist who works in mixed media, painting, muralism, and performance art. He and his works have been featured in Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, Playboy, SB Nation, CBS and many others. Recently, Williams was featured on HLN and CNN Great Big Story for his mural works throughout the city of Atlanta, and in Atlanta Journal Constitution alongside a fluorescent and symbolism-filled mural of civil rights leader and activist Hosea Williams on the parking deck of the Studioplex in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.

Another highlight of the 2017 fair is the participation of Mexican artist, Emiliano Gironella Parra, who recently received rave reviews for his exhibition during Los Angeles Getty Museum project “The Getty PST:LA/LA” at the Jason Vass Gallery (Sept 9 – Oct 14, 2017). Gironella Parra’s work specifically addresses violence in Mexico in connection to drug trafficking and is an attempt for reconciliation between society and police. His works utilize Artempatía, or Art Empathy, to provide a sense of belonging for the children of fallen police officers, while also seeking to enact social and cultural change in Mexican society and around the world. His work, Homage to Jasper Johns, which is included in the book “1001 Paintings You Must See before You Die,” by Stephen Farthing, will be exhibited at ArtSpot.
