Caetano Veloso in Concert

Jackie Gleason Theater. Apr 20th, 2010. 8:00 p.m.

altRhythm Foundation presents an evening with legendary Brazilian musician Caetano Veloso at the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.

The zii e zie tour has been an international success across South America and Europe, and finally arrives in the United States. Veloso calls the style of the album “transamba,” a return to his classic early tropicalia 1970s sound that continues to inspire new generations of artists, in Brazil and beyond.  The CD was awarded a 2009 Latin Grammy for Best Singer/Songwriter Album. The music evokes the
feel of beautiful Rio de Janeiro on a rainy day.

Veloso has been at the forefront of Brazilian culture since the late 1960s, as a cofounder of the uniquely Brazilian psychedelic cultural explosion tropicalia. The echoes of the work he and his partners Gilberto Gil, Maria Bethânia, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes and others made continues to rumble through music and art across the Americas and Europe today. Yet Veloso has never become a nostalgia act. He has continued to create modern, vital music and art on an international level.
