Carnaval Miami

Special Tribute to New Orleans From Mar 4th through Mar 5th, 2007Due to the success achieved throughout it’s seven year history, the City of Coral Gables is hosting one more time its notorious Carnaval on the Mile. Organized by The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana, it runs through March 4th and 5th, with two consecutive days of jazz music, art, wine and fine foods. Two blocks of Miracle Mile, a pedestrian area with boutiques and cafes, will be closed during the event. There will also be art exhibits including the works of Gilda Sacasas, the Carnaval Miami Poster winner. The jazz greats featured will be Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Hot 8 Brass Band, William Solley and Kim Prevost performing together with our King of Carnaval Miami, Arturo Sandoval. Conjunto Progreso, Ed Calle and the Fuego Caliente Band will also join them on center stage. There will be two other concert stages. Le Jeune Road Stage and the Douglas Road Stage, both featuring the sounds of Latin Funk performances by Alabao, Roberto Poveda, Locos por Juana, Defonce, Javier Garcia, Siete Rayo, For If The Flies, Suenalo Sound System, Xperimento, DJ Le Spam and the Spam All-Stars during two straight days of great performances. The event also has many attractions for youngsters. Bring your kids with lounge chairs and blankets for an escape to the Island of Madagascar on the Le Jeune Stage. During the whole weekend, the Baptist Children’s Hospital will present fun for all kids with singing, dancing, climbing towers, snow cones and popcorn. Free for all.
