Cifo at Arteamericas. Miami Art Events
On the occasion of this year’s Arteamericas Art Fair the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO), presents a selection of artists that have been awarded CIFO Grants and Commissions since the year 2006, including artists that will participate in the coming 2008 CIFO Grants and Commissions exhibition: Interrogating Systems. To illustrate the exciting art production in the region in the context of the foundation’s programs, CIFO displays works which range from video art, photography, works on paper, artists publications and painting.

The featured artists are: Alexander Apóstol (Venezuela), Alessandro Balteo Yazbeck (Venezuela), Mariana Castillo Deball (Mexico), Eugenio Espinoza (Venezuela), Magdalena Fernández (Venezuela), Regina José Galindo (Guatemala), Jacqueline Lacasa (Uruguay), Carlos Motta (Colombia), Moris (Israel Meza Moreno) (Colombia), Amilcar Lucien Packer Yessouroun (Brazil), José Alejandro Restrepo (Colombia), Emilio Valdés (Mexico), Carla Zaccagnini (Argentina) and Hector Zamora (Mexico).

Grants and Commissions are awarded each year to up to 14 emerging and mid-career artists whose work is featured in a group exhibition at CIFO Art Space. These awards offer the opportunity to develop and present experimental and engaging new work. The grants and commissions enable artists to develop their work outside of the constraints of the commercial marketplace, and provide them with a unique platform to present projects for local and international audiences in Miami.
