Cuba Nu-Wave Festival at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts

Vedado Social Club & Olympia Theater present the Cuba Nu-Wave Festival, a unique mix of talent that brings four fresh new takes on the evolving modern Cuban music scene. Pulling inspiration from the island’s past and present; Raul Paz, Descemer Bueno, Lena Burke, and Gema Corredera move audiences to dance, celebrating the spirit of the Caribbean.

Raul Paz as one of the pioneers of the Nu-Wave explores new horizons; Influenced by the likes of Led Zeppelin and Bob Marley, Raul has updated Cuban music into the 21st century with a unique Rock & Roll sound.

Descemer Bueno continues the Nu-Wave tradition of innovation by infusing hip-hop with Cuban percussion and is the co-founder of Yerba Buena.

Lena Burke a singer-songwriter and award winning concert pianist born into a family of legendary Cuban musicians.   Lena is one-third of the award-winning group Alex, Jorge y Lena.

Gema Corredera whose exile experience includes major stops in Spain, New York and Miami blends these cities’ musical influences with Jazz, Flamenco, Filin, and Opera and her Cuban roots to deliver poignant music with a luminous voice.
