Today’s artists are a determined bunch, melding resources, circumstances, and experiences with the expertise learned through their traditional and contemporary fine art practice. The reGENERATION exhibit celebrates these artists.
The Deering Estate at Cutler congratulates this generation’s emerging and contemporary artists selected for the 2011 ArtSoBay exhibit: Kerry Phillips, Gavin Perry, George Sanchez, Felice Grodin, Sarah Karl, Jen Stark, Raul Mendez, Richard Hayden, Ralph Provisero, and the TM Sisters as well as the Deering Estate’s on-site Artists-in-Residence: Deena Blazejack, Cherie Clark, Kim Yantis, Lara Stein Pardo, Aurora Molina, Yomarie Silva, and Carsten Meier.
ArtSoBay, the annual juried fine art exhibit held at the Deering Estate at Cutler, is part of the two week long SoBay Festival of the Arts which celebrates the literary, performing and visual arts. An open call was issued to the arts community and submissions for the exhibit were reviewed by guest juror, Rene Morales, Associate Curator for the Miami Art Museum (MAM), and the Estate’s own Exhibits and Collections Committee. The artists chosen will showcase a variety of contemporary art. The exhibit runs through March 11 and it is free with general admission.
