Fredric Snitzer Gallery exhibits Brazilian artist Erika Malzoni.
Born in Itapetininga (Brazil), 1966, she currently lives and works in São Paulo. In her research Malzoni turns to the plastic and poetic potential of objects discarded by the consumer society. These are refined by the artist in installations and assemblages that carefully preserve their integrity. Often, schematic compositions recall Minimalism, but here “one thing after another” is used to intensify, by contrast, the particularities contained in the memory of using things. With a generous look, beyond the everyday, the artist constructs a lexicon of objects in which the plasticity is synonymous of the valorization of its course.
