Florida Grand Opera presents Rigoletto by Giuseppe Verdi

From February 11 through 18, 2012.

Enter the court of the chauvinistic, sex-crazed Duke, where his court jester Rigoletto mocks the husbands and fathers of the many women whom the Duke has seduced. When a curse is cast upon Rigoletto, his own daughter falls victim, and his vow for revenge ends in a tragic twist of fate. With Metropolitan Opera star Michael Fabiano and rising young star and Fort Lauderdale native Nadine Sierra.

This first work of Verdi’s maturity began a series of masterpieces that would come to define Italian grand opera. Rigoletto has continued to fascinate and thrill audiences for more than 150 years.

Outstanding American baritone Mark Walters returns to FGO in the title role. Fresh from his debut at the Metropolitan Opera, tenor Michael Fabiano appears as the Duke with, as his victim Gilda, the award-winning soprano Nadine Sierra.

Performances will take place on February 11, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and on February 16 at 7:30 p.m. and February 18 at 8:00 p.m. at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets can be purchased online at tickets.fgo.org or by phone at 800-741- 1010.
