imoderni's New Project Space

Glas Italia. From Jun 21st through Jul 28th, 2008. imoderni space. Miami Designimoderni, located at 143 NW 23rd Street in Wynwood Art District, launches the Project Space exhibition featuring Glas Italia. Art Direction by Piero Lissoni, designs by Claudio Silvestrin, Jean-Marie Massaud, and including Di Dioniso Mirrors from Ettore Sottsass. Di Dioniso was Sottsass’s last project before his death in 2007. imoderni will auction the first mirror to be hung in the US. Proceeds will go to The Bakehouse Art Complex in Miami. The exhibition will open to the public with a reception on June 21st, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.

Highlights in the exhibition will include Di Dioniso mirrors designed by Ettore Sottsass which have generated much interest in the European design press and which were first seen in April in a Piero Lissoni designed and curated exhibition at the celebrated Elie Tahari Gallery in Milano. On display will be five of the six mirrors in this collection. imoderni will auction one mirror on the evening of the party. Other displays will include the very latest introductions at the 2008 iSaloni Worldwide fair held each year in April, in Milano.
 
Glas Italia is a historic company. Founded as a glass factory more than one hundred years ago, the company is still family owned. Today, in collaboration with Art Director Lissoni, Glas produces tables, shelves, mirrors and accessories in many colors, in satin, opaque and lacquered glass. Joining this collaboration between Lissoni, and the family-owned factory with an abiding passion for glass, are internationally renowned designers such as Claudio Silvestrin,  Jean-Marie Massaud, Nanda Vigo and Marc Krusin, who are invited to experiment and innovate with new technology and advanced production processes. The end result, a collection of award-winning products with a great aesthetic sense and modern style has emerged in recent years.
