Miami Bach Society hosts New York’s Newest Baroque Ensemble: New York Baroque Incorporated

Miami Beach Community Church. November 2, 2013, 8:00 p.m.

The Miami Bach Society presents New York’s exciting young Early Music ensemble, recent graduates of the Juilliard School’s renowned Historical Performance Program, Juilliard415. Named the New York Baroque Incorporated, it is a conductorless orchestra of young players of period instruments based in New York City, presenting vital, informed, and fresh performances of 17th and 18th century classical repertoire.

Lauded by The New York Times for its “do-it-yourself spirit”, NYBI was founded and is self-managed by recent graduates, under the leadership of viola da gamba player, Wen Yang. Their program titled Love, Betray, Sacrifice, Die includes thematic music of the Italian Baroque, evocative music from the early 18th Century. Dramatic overtures, concerti grossi, and a full-blown battle piece will immerse the listener in images of passion, duplicity, warfare, and valiant death through works of Vivaldi, Geminiani, Locatelli, Dall’Abaco and von Biber.  The Miami Bach Society is thrilled to be able to present this exciting new group to South Florida audiences for the first time.

Tickets are $30 general admission and $40 preferred seating. Students 18 years old and younger are admitted free of charge. College students, graduate students and New World Symphony Fellows pay $5. Tickets can be ordered by phone at 305.669.1376 or online at www.miamibachsociety.org
