Miami Contemporary Artists
ArtCenter / South Florida starts the winter art fair season with Miami Contemporary Artists: Creating A Scene, a group exhibition to run concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach. Works by over forty of the key artists who have helped drive Miami’s cultural evolution, will be on display.  The exhibition, to be installed at the ACSF locations in Miami Beach and at the Freedom Tower in Miami, is predicated on a new book Miami Contemporary Artists, co-authored by Julie Davidow, ACSF Artist-in-Residence and Paul Clemence, Miami-based architectural photographer, with a foreword by award-winning art critic for The Miami Herald and ArtNews, Elisa Turner.

Creating A Scene is curated by Miami-based artist and critic Gean Moreno who has assembled the individual components into “a collective portrait of the scene. Rather than present a series of discreet objects,” Moreno says, “I want to offer a truer picture of how things occur at ground-level, on a day-to-day basis, as an organic process. It’s important that this exhibition break the standard narrative that the world gets of the city through the same institutions and collectors, and return to the artists the power to write their own narratives.”
