Miami Lyric Opera presents Carmen by George Bizet

Olympia Theater at Gusman Center. April 6 and 7, 2013, 8:00 and 4:00 p.m.

The story of Carmen is set in Seville, Spain, around 1830, and concerns the eponymous Carmen, a beautiful Gipsy with a fiery temper. Free with her love, she woos the corporal Don José, an inexperienced soldier. Their relationship leads to his rejection of his former love, mutiny against his superior, and joining a gang of smugglers. His jealousy when she turns from him to the bullfighter Escamillo leads him to murder Carmen.

The Miami Lyric Opera cast include Erica Papillion-Posey, Jorge Pita, Oscar Maritinez, Roseanne Akerley, Diego Baner and other fine artists. Jeffrey Eckstein as the MLO Orchestra and Chorus Conductor and Beverly Coulter as Assistant Artistic Director under the General and Artistic Direction of Raffaele Cardone.

Tickets are $25, $30, $35, $45. Students with ID $25 at the Box Office. Tickets can be purchased online at www.miamilyricopera.org and at www.gusmancenter.org. The Olympia Theater at Gusman Center is located at 174 East Flagler Street.
