New Faces, New Work. March 4th, 2008. 7:00 p.m.
The play Our Lady of Allapattah by Christopher Demos-Brown will have a free play reading on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the New Theatre venue located at 4120 Laguna Street in Coral Gables. Directed by Kate Katcher, Our Lady of Allapattah features Lela Elam, Clint Hooper, Joel Kolker, Don Striano, and Patrick Manley. Local playwright and Downstage Miami participate Christopher Demos-Brown creates a Miami that not all of us may know.
In Our Lady of Allapattah, Detective Keith Rolnick, still reeling from the loss of his family, is sent to investigate an image of The Virgin Mary in Allapattah. As more and more people become convinced that a charismatic cult leader can save their souls, Rolnick and his partner must put their own differences aside, and find out if The Messiah indeed has come, or if people’s lives are in the hands of a dangerous con man.
