New World Symphony's 25th Anniversary Gala to honor Michael Tilson Thomas

February 23, 2013.

New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, celebrates its highly anticipated 25th anniversary with a look back at the organization’s innovative accomplishments and a special tribute to its Founder, Artistic Director and 10-time Grammy Award winner, Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT).

The evening, inspired by “West Side Story,” will transform the New World Center into an enchanting reflection of Tony and Maria’s timeless love story. The event will feature a special multimedia concert with excerpts from “West Side Story” that will be performed by New World Symphony Fellows under the baton of MTT and in collaboration with Broadway performers and internationally acclaimed artists.

Following the performance, guests will enjoy a seated dinner staged throughout various transformed spaces within the New World Center as they experience special musical interludes by the Fellows. To top off the already extravagant evening, following the dinner, gala patrons will be joined by another few hundred late-night guests in the completely altered Concert Hall as they sip on specialty cocktails created by Bacardi, USA and dance the night away to the swinging sounds of Michael Andrew and the Atomic Big Band perched above the dance floor.
