Knight Foundation Arts Partnership Grant. December 2008.  Miami Light Project was awarded a $200,000 Knight Foundation Arts Partnership Grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as one of the 31 inaugural grant recipients of the$40 million effort to transform the South Florida arts.

January 2009.  The Museum of Contemporary Art introduces new hours in 2009. Starting on January 7th, MOCA will be open from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday.  On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, galleries will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Galleries are open on Sundays from noon to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Mondays.

December 2008.  The Cintas Foundation and the Frost Art Museum at Florida International University today announced the start of the annual competition for the 2009 Brandon Fradd Fellowship in Music Composition administered by the foundation and the Cintas Fellowship Program at The Frost. New Director. November 2008.  The Miami International Film Festival, at Miami Dade College (MDC), has announced the appointment of Tiziana Finzi, a seasoned film professional with more than twenty years of experience in film festival programming and coordination, as its director. October 2008.  John Richard, a performing arts industry veteran who has been a driving force in the development and success of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for the past two decades, has been selected as the new president and chief executive officer of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

3rd Anniversary. October 2008.  The World Erotic Arts Museum (WEAM) celebrates its third anniversary on Thursday, October 16th, with a party a special photography exhibition at the museum, which has become an internationally known Miami Beach tourist attraction.

September 2008.  Eleven historic River District art galleries and venues have united to form Art Walk, a free downtown art celebration, on the first Friday of each month beginning on October 3rd, 2008 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m.

$1 million worth of works by Purvis Young.  Rubell Family Collection donates $1 million worth of works from Miami folk artist Purvis Young to Morehouse College, considered the best college in the nation for educating African Americans. Morehouse officials are expected to announce the gift soon, the single largest art donation ever to the all-male historically black college.
