Artists painting “En Plein Air”. April 12th and 13th, 2008. 10:00 a.m.

The Deering Estate at Cutler and the GroveHouse Artists will host “Affair En Plein Air, Part Deux” a two-day outdoor painting and photography event. Artists will be painting on the grounds of the Estate on Saturday and Sunday. Photographers have participated in a pre-arranged photo expedition with one of the Estate’s naturalists and also attended an image to print workshop. They will enter their completed works for judging. Judging of the art and photography will take place on Sunday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm in the Royal Palm Grove. The Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue in Miami.

Charles Deering was an avid art collector, philanthropist, and amateur artist. He supported artists and the creation of fine art. In advancing Mr. Deering’s dream to support artists and cultural education, the Deering Estate offers opportunities for artists to create and display their art through the Artist in Residence Program. The Estate also seeks partnerships with individuals and organizations for temporary exhibits to be displayed in the historic homes.
