Waltaman Ortega Fine Arts presents Jérôme BOREL, Eric Roux-Fontaine and Stevens Dossou Yovo

Jan10 - Feb 28, 2015

Waltaman Ortega Fine Arts presents a three man show: Jérôme BOREL, Eric Roux-Fontaine and Stevens Dossou Yovo. Jérôme Borel’s paintings have the uncanny ability to stir and discomfort his viewers without use of violent imagery nor even a hint of expressionism. Jérôme Borel lived in Canada where he studied Art History (American Art History in particular). Borel is well-established artist, with numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world and is featured in multiple publications.

Eric Roux-Fontaine is a creator of marvelous dreamscapes, convincingly constructing fictional realms and alternate realities. He renders the surreal and fantastic by strategically borrowing from conventions of the familiar. Eric Roux-Fontaine was born in France in 1966. There, he studied at the Beaux-Arts de Saint Etienne and graduated in 1988.

The latest addition to our sculpture program, Stevens Dossou Yovo, uses primarily steel to focus on representations of space through his commanding geometric compositions. The elements joining the structures are well-concealed giving them a weightless appearance and, as a result, counterbalancing the gravity of the metal. Drawing inspiration from the sky and playing with optical illusions, his work communicates limitlessness, questioning the origins and confines of reality. Stevens Dossou-Yovo, born in Paris, graduated from the Penninghen Design School in 1990 where he studied graphic art and interior architecture. Since then, he has been exhibited all over Europe, including a solo exhibition at the Musée Saint-Germain in France. This exhibition at Waltman Ortega Fine Art will be his first exhibition in the United States.
