Paraíso is the new independent film of Cuban-American writer/director León Ichaso. Entirely shot in Miami, with a crew of 10 and 4 film students, it had its World Premiere at the Miami International Film Festival, 2009. Ichaso, who directed the Cuban- American classics El Super, Bitter Sugar, Pinéro, and El Cantante, returns to Miami to tell the gritty tale of a Cuban exile’s arrival in Miami which leads to major trouble.

The dull life of Miami radio personality, Remigio Gallegos, abruptly changes after he answers the phone to find out his son, whom he’s never met, is waiting for him at an immigration office. Wearing Remigio’s mother’s silver cross, the young man brings a haunting past. Paraiso explores generational and class divides within the Cuban exile community of South Florida. Part thriller, part drama, part existential romance, the film explodes with heart, color, music and a desperate tale.
