Sept 18th, 2010. 7:30 p.m.

altNicholas Sparks, one of America’s most beloved storyteller, continues to soar with nine #1 New York Times Bestsellers and seven films – six already released as major Hollywood movies – while fans everywhere await the release of his sixteenth novel, Safe Haven on September 14th, 2010. Film rights for Safe Haven have already been acquired by Relativity Media. The studio, along with producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill, plan on fast-tracking the movie into production.

Safe Haven is both a love story and a spiraling tale of mystery and suspense. With a secret that has forced her to hide her identity and escape a past that still haunts and terrifies her, Katie – a young, beautiful woman – suddenly appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport.

Knowing her self-imposed isolation cannot last forever, Katie grows confident, safe and happy with the new life she has created for herself with Alex, a widowed grocery store owner – whom she loves and confides in – and his two adoring children, her new neighbor and friend, Jo, and a steady job at Ivan’s restaurant. Deciding to finally go for the driver’s license she has always wanted, Katie unknowingly opens the door to a very troubling and violent past.

Safe Haven is a novel about the darker forces of love, and what can happen when fear is replaced by belief in oneself, in second chances, and in the power of forces that must be accepted but can never be fully understood.
