Nominated for a Carbonell award, The Book of Ruth was written by a Miami treasure: playwright Mario Diament. Set in Argentina, a woman's casual search for a lost object in her attic turns into a dream-like trip into the memories of her past – a journey that will not end until she makes peace with her ghosts, long-lost in the Nazi camps of World War II. Rafael de Acha has directed over one hundred productions of plays and has been the recipient of several Carbonell Awards and multiple nominations for Best Direction and Best Production.

Mr. De Acha is the Artistic Director of the new Theater by the Book and teaches opera at the University of Miami. Mario Diament is three-time winner of the Argentores Award, presented annually by Argentina's Society of Authors and won the 2002 Carbonell Award for Best New Play. The Book of Ruth was a Carbonell nominee and won the Streisand Festival Award in San Diego, California. Mr. Diament teaches journalism and playwriting at Florida International University and writes a weekly column for the Argentine daily La Nación.
