The Cleveland Orchestra: Mahler Symphony 9 at ARSHT

Fri 26 Jan, 2018 - Sat 27 Jan, 2018

Franz Welser-Möst as conductor
Program:
MAHLER Symphony No. 9

Alban Berg wrote: “[It] is the most heavenly thing Mahler has written… an expression of an exceptional fondness for this earth, the longing to live in peace on it, to enjoy nature to its depths – before death comes… In the midst of the utmost intensity of almost painful joy in life.” Mahler’s stunning and breathtaking final symphony is a profound love song–a meditation on the beauty of life and the poignant joy of the evolution of time.

The Cleveland Orchestra in Miami was launched in January 2007 during the inaugural season of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Franz Welser-Möst, one of today’s most distinguished conductors, has led The Cleveland Orchestra and helped it to be recognized as the “best American orchestra” by The New York Times.
