Tigertail Productions presents WordSpeak with Dasha Kelly. Wisconsin-based African-American writer and performer Dasha Kelly comes to Miami for an artist residency from March 24th through March 28th to launch the third year of Tigertail Productions WordSpeak, an ongoing spoken word program for South Florida teens. Kelly’s work blends the musical cadences of spoken word performance with the well-crafted language of the novelist that she is.
The week of March 24th, Kelly will offer a series of performances, workshops and readings for teens at several locations through Miami. On Friday, March 28th at 7:30 pm Dasha Kelly will give a reading and perform, open to the general public. She has appeared on HBO presents Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam, is the author of the novel All Fall Down, and has released three CD’s of her own spoken word performances and poetry. Kelly is also the founder and director of the Still Waters Collective, which uses creative writing and spoken word as tools for building leadership and shaping self-esteem.
