Crash The Bash: Florida Grand Opera Premiere After Gala Party featuring DJ IRIE

Alfred I. DuPont Building. October 26, 2013, 10:00 p.m.

Kicking off its 73rd continuous season of grand opera this year, Florida Grand Opera (FGO) is hosting its first-ever after gala party, “Crash the Bash,” this upcoming October 26, 2013 at the historic Alfred I. DuPont Building in downtown Miami. Once the clock strikes 10 p.m. following the glamorous and upscale “Smoke & Mirrors” gala honoring the life achievements of international opera star Deborah Voigt on that same night, the scene at the DuPont building will shift over from a ritzy, black-tie affair to an exhilarating night of festivity and dancing along with the company’s young professionals group, Crescendo Circle. This unexpected and highly anticipated happening merge Florida Grand Opera with upbeat sounds that will keep guests going into the night.

“Crash the Bash” aims to convert Miami’s young, hip art-loving scene into a new generation of eclectic opera enthusiasts. Featuring DJ sets by popular local music act, DJ Irie, this event, geared toward grad students, professionals and individuals in their 20s and 30s, features a more affordable price tag to encourage attendance, and will add a youthful new spin to the typically older opera patron scene. “Crash the Bash” will be a great opportunity for young adults to get involved in their local landscape’s cultural atmosphere and allow them to network with and get out on the dance floor alongside some of the city’s most influential up-and-comers, artists, art patrons, and philanthropists.

Best-known as the official in-house DJ and emcee for NBA Champion team, Miami Heat, DJ Irie is one of Miami’s most iconic figures today. His list of DJ clientele includes, but is not limited to, the Miami Heat, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Jamie Foxx. Furthermore, this vivacious media personality also serves as brand ambassador to New Era, Heineken, Verizon Wireless and Premier Beverage, among others.

DJ Irie’s visionary musical talent and eye for business has garnered him much high-profile acclaim, including several awards, such as the Global Spin Awards’ Club DJ of the Year, Charles E. Perry Young Alumni Visionary Award, Grey Goose’s Rising Icon Award, and the Southern Entertainment Awards’ Nightclub DJ of the Year. He has also been spotlighted on “Conan,” “The Early Show,” USA Today, Us Weekly, ESPN The Magazine, MTV and E! Entertainment Television. He also appears as a regular figure on “Good Morning America”.

In addition to his media work, however, DJ Irie also often enjoys lending a helping-hand to his home community, involving himself in various philanthropic efforts throughout the city of Miami and beyond. His non-profit organization, Irie Foundation, is dedicated to assisting South Florida’s troubled youth, step-by-step, on their path towards success by providing them with unique opportunities for progress that may have otherwise never been available to them.

Once the “Smoke & Mirrors” gala evening begins to wrap up, it is time to turn up the volume for “Crash the Bash”! Starting at 10 p.m., the house band will be replaced by one of Miami’s hottest artists, DJ Irie, to kick off “Crash the Bash,” Florida Grand Opera’s exciting first-ever after party.

General admission tickets for “Crash the Bash” are $75 per person. Tickets may be purchased in advance through the Florida Grand Opera Box Office by phone at 800.741.1010 and online at www.FGO.org. Tickets will also be sold at the door on the day of the event for $100 per person.
