“An utterly compelling and indelible drama…lingers in the memory” – The Hollywood Reporter (read full review here)

A Wolf at the Door it is a riveting mystery (based on a true story) of a kidnapped child and her parents, whose lives are shattered by the revelations that come to light after her disappearance in suburban Rio de Janeiro. The stunning debut film from director Fernando Coimbra won major prizes at the San Sebastián, Rio, Havana and Miami film festivals. The film is in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Milhem Cortaz (Elite Squad) and Fabíula Nascimento (Estomago: A Gastronomic Story) play a married couple who discover their six-year old daughter has been picked up from school by a complete stranger. The prime suspect in the case is played by Leandra Leal (Cazuza – Time Doesn’t Stop), who may be a neighbor, a friend of the mother – or something else entirely. The story circles back over the same incidents, told from differing perspectives, revealing more and more of the actual truth, surprising and implicating the audience itself. Desire, deceit and two parents’ love for each other and their child are the counterpoint to the police investigator’s determination to find out the truth – and find the missing girl.

Brazil, 100 min, 2K DCP, Dir. Fernando Coimbra, Unrated but not suitable for children due to violence, sexual scenes, and language, in Portuguese with English subtitles, Exclusive Miami First Run Engagement.
