AJ Khaw and Nestor Zurita in Concert

AJ Khaw and Nestor Zurita have been playing together for many years. Their performances include selections ranging from Classical music to Jazz. For this occasion, they have selected some of the most emblematic jazz songs of all time.

This includes jazz masterpieces of composers such as Ellington, Monk, Miles, Trane and more, plus original compositions by Khaw.

AJ Khaw began his passion of playing the organ and piano during childhood. This Washington State native earned his B.A. degree in music summa cum laude from Emory University. While in Atlanta he founded the jazz/funk quartet Jazznomad and performed in various classical chamber ensembles. A.J. served as organist at St. John’s United Methodist Church on Miami Beach. Besides being an outstanding musician, Dr. Khaw is a Pediatrician at South Bronx Health Center for Children and Families in New York were he currently lives. http://www.myspace.com/sonidobatidojazzband

Nestor Zurita started to play the saxophone at 17 with the “University of Montana” Big Band. He then went to Miami Dade College and later studied at the Manhattan School of Music, where he was awarded various scholarships for his performances and improvisations. There he studied under the guidance of Steve Slagel and Bobby Watson. He then went on to study at The New School Jazz, under the guidance of Reggie Workman, in NYC.   As an educator, Zurita has taught independently to high school and conservatory students in Paris, Brussels, Genoa, and Miami. Recently he created and directed the Jazz program at the Ecuadorian National Conservatory in Quito with nearly 1,200 students. http://www.myspace.com/nestorzurita
