With this dramatic phrase, concludes the story of popular chivalry tradition in the old Sicily of the 19th Century. Love, jealousy and infidelity create the drama that ends in a death among friends. The story of Giovanni Vega attracted Mascagni theatrical intuition to create one of the most popular opera of the Italian repertoire, Cavalleria Rusticana (Rustic Chivalry).
