About Locust Projects:
Now celebrating twenty years as Miami’s longest running alternative art space, Locust Projects holds a vital place in Miami’s arts eco-system, commissioning the production of experimental, site-specific installations and serving as an artist-centric resource and incubator of ideas and critical conversations on contemporary art. During two-to-six week residencies, local, national and international, emerging, established and mid-career artists are given the space and resources to create ambitious new work that pushes their practice without concern for commercial or institutional limitations. Since 1998 Locust Projects has commissioned over 150 site-specific projects by more than 350 artists. Along with supporting artists’ professional development and artistic experimentation, we also support the community through educational initiatives, free public lectures on contemporary art and curatorial practice, high school and MFA-level summer art intensives, and local regranting supporting projects in non-institutional venues in underserved areas across Miami-Dade County.
