Grammy-nominated drummer Hilario Bell teams with renowned visual artist Katey Penner for a fantastic evening of art and jazz. It’s the WDNA Fine Arts Concert, the bimonthly art exhibition and live music presentation, and this event features Hilario Bell – one of the most dynamic drummers in the jazz arena today.
Considered by many as one of the brightest stars in the jazz universe, Hilario has performed with a kaleidoscope of artists; from Irish flautist James Galway, to violinist Joshua Bell, to saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera, to name a few. His versatility and ingenuity provides an extraordinary escape to new realms and he brings his quartet to the WDNA Jazz Gallery for what promises to be an unforgettable performance.
There will also be an art exhibition by visual artist Katey Penner, entitled “Rhythm and Colors.” Known for her bold, sweeping palette knife strokes, which energize her works with vibrancy, texture and artistic merit, Katey’s expressionistic images of renowned jazz musicians will be on display for all to embrace. Among some of the pieces are images of Wynton Marsalis, Billie Holiday, Celia Cruz, and others.
Tickets are $25 for WDNA Members and $50 General Admission.
