December 14 & 15, 2013, 8:00 p.m.
The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) will present its’ fifth annual installment of “Golden Sounds from Hollywood” on Saturday, December 14 at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center at FIU, and on Sunday, December 15 at the New World Center on Miami Beach. Eduardo Marturet will conduct a program featuring works written specifically for motion pictures, as well as classical favorites from film such as Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Massenet’s Meditation from Thais. Stunning visual images will be projected onto the stage, connecting important elements of excitement and emotion to the music.
“What is a successful film score,” asks Maestro Marturet. “It’s something that is linked to the movie, but it can live outside the movie. It’s beautiful, and sometimes you don’t need the image at all.”
In addition, MISO will be offering “Tweet Seats” throughout the two performances. “I think part of the live performance experience is your own individual reaction to music, as if you were talking and sharing what was happening in front of you with your closest friends,” says Marturet. “I can’t imagine a better environment to embrace this technology than our tribute to the fantastic film scores by Hollywood’s most memorable composers.”
