South Florida Jazz: Etienne Charles Sextet’ Creole Soul

Jazz South Florida celebrates 25 years of jazz with a series of Concerts. In this occassion Etienne Charles Sextet will present the album Creole Soul. Etienne Charles will be in trumpet and percussion, Brian Hogans in saxophones, Victor Gould in piano, Alex Wintz in guitar, Jonathan Michel in bass and John Davis in drums.

Trumpeter Etienne Charles is among the most compelling young jazz artists to burst forth in this decade in the genre of Afro-Caribbean Jazz. His album Creole Soul taps into a myriad of styles rooted in his Afro-Caribbean background, from calypso to Haitian voodoo music, is an amalgam mix of reggae, kongo and rock, as well as the influence R&B music.
