April 1, 2012. 4:00 p.m.

The University of Miami Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music announces that 10-time Grammy award-winning super vocal group TAKE 6 will perform with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra at UM Gusman Concert Hall, on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

TAKE 6 sets the standard for a cappella groups of their generation. Their swinging, harmony-rich gospel sound is globally recognized. They are working on a brand new project with arrangers from the UM Frost School of Music, and will perform a sneak preview of several new arrangements at this concert. Henry Mancini Institute Artistic Director Terence Blanchard will host the concert and Artistic Coordinator Scott Flavin will conduct the full cross-genre orchestra.

Other concert highlights will feature many of the vocal group’s all-time a cappella favorites, as well as arrangements by award-winning saxophonist, arranger, composer, and conductor Gordon Goodwin. In addition, graduate students from the Frost School’s Arts Presenting and Live Entertainment Industries program are marketing the event.

General admission: Adults $30, Seniors/UM Students $20. Tickets are available at www.music.miami.edu/concerts or at 305.284.2400.
