Dance Now! Miami presents Summer Dance Intensive Performance

at the Little Haiti Cultural Center. July 7, 2012. 7:00 p.m.

Flourishing in its third year, with more students than ever, the Dance Now!/Little Haiti Cultural Center Summer Dance Intensive has been training local teens at the performing and visual arts facility for the past three weeks. These talented youth are taking classes six days a week, eight hours a day, honing their skills in ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, hip-hop, Afro-Brazillian, West African and Haitian Folklore dance styles.

The Summer Intensive culminates with a performance on Saturday, July 7th, showing off the students’ gifts as performers and the amazing growth they have made in these past weeks. Choreographers include Dance Now! Directors Diego Salterini and Hannah Baumgarten, Chipo Afamefuma of Delou Africa Dance Ensemble, Cherylin Marrocco Director of MAD Dance Academy, Kehynde Hill of music videos and film, Cristiane Silva of Dance NOW!, Nancy St. Leger (a Knight Arts Finalist) and Anita Darbonne, the Haiti Center’s Director. The show will be a celebration of the diversity that makes this city an International Cultural Mecca and is guaranteed to get your toes tapping and your djembe beating.
