Il Padre E Lo Straniero (The Father and the Foreigner)

Wolfsonian Museum – FIU. September 28, 2012. 7:00 p.m.

In a Rome with echoes of the Middle East, two very different men who both have disabled children bond in this constantly surprising dramatic thriller. The Italian businessman, Diego uses work excuses to distance himself from his handicapped son, while Walid is a mysterious Syrian who lavishes affection on his disfigured infant.

The friendship will deeply change both, but Walid also has many secrets and Diego becomes unwittingly involved in increasingly dangerous circumstances. From quick trips to Syria, to meetings with possibly shady strings, the connection between the two men shifts and deepens in unexpected ways. (Italy, Ricky Tognazzi, 2010, Italian with English subtitles, digital, 110 minutes)

This screening is co-presented by the Italian Film festival and it is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 305.535.2644.
