Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo

Sunday, March 4 at 8pm | Knight Concert Hall

Recognized for their inspiring blend of a loving knowledge of dance, impeccable comic approach, and the astounding fact that men can, indeed, dance en pointe without falling flat on their faces, this all-male dance troupe is guaranteed to delight Miami when it returns in March. Don’t miss this playful, entertaining view of traditional, classical ballet in parody form and en travesti.

The all-male drag ballet company Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, affectionately known as the Trocks, specializes in a loving critique of the conventions and traditions of ballet: campy and hysterical, but intelligent and beautifully executed.

The company has become an international dance phenomenon, performing classic works like Swan Lake alongside more obscure ballets, dolled up in fabulous costumes, makeup and wigs—all en pointe. The fact that men dance all the parts—heavy bodies delicately balancing on toes as swans, nymphs, princesses—enhances, rather than mocks the spirit and fun of dance as an art form, delighting knowledgeable ballet audiences and newbies alike.

“America’s all-male ballet parodists proved once again they have the technique to go with the humour.”
