Mad Cat Theatre Company, recently named Best Theatre Company by the Miami New Times for 2013 is back with a world premiere play Blow Me written by company member Jessica Farr and directed by Mad Cat’s founder and Artistic Director, Paul Tei.
Blow Me is an unbridled take on the life of fashion icon, Isabella Blow. Blow, previously a fashion editor at Tatler and Vogue, left an indelible mark on the fashion world, having discovered numerous supermodels and designers such as Philip Treacy and Alexander McQueen. Suffering from Bi-Polar disorder, Isabella attempted suicide 7 times before finally succeeding. In Blow Me, we follow Isabella down the rabbit hole as her life comes to an end, which is only just the beginning of the ride. Isabella retells her own story as only she could remember it, through spectacle.
Blow Me is the full length version and the world premiere of what was previously the one act play Charming Acts of Misery, which had its debut at the 2013 South Beach Comedy Festival.
The cast features company member Erin Joy Schmidt (Charming Acts of Misery, Macbeth & The Monster, So My Grandmother Died, Blah, Blah, Blah, Viva Bourgeois, Mixtape, Some Girl(s)) as Isabella Blow and the ensemble is filled out by Gregg Weiner (Broadsword, Artful Dodgers, Betty’s Summer Vacation, Trembling Hands and of Starz Magic City), Noah Levine (Cat Lady, Charming Acts of Misery), Matthew Glass (Everything Will Be Different) and company member Emilie Paap (The Hamlet Dog & Pony Show, Macbeth & The Monster).
The production team for Blow Me includes the sound design and original music of Matt Corey (company member), lighting design by Melissa Santiago Keenan (company member), costumes and hats by couture designer/milliner Karelle Levy and set design by Paul Tei.
This production is made possible by the Miami Theater Center, Delaplaine Champaign, WLRN and with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners.
