On Saturday, July 18th at 6:00pm, the Board of Directors of Miami Light Project will present their 2nd Annual Summer BBQ Throwdown. This annual fundraiser celebrates Miami Light Project and raises funds for its signature Here & Now artist commissioning program; funds raised at the event will be matched 100% by Miami Light Project’s James L & John S. Knight Foundation Grant.
This year’s culinary battle royale will center on Ribs. MLP Board Chairman Marlon A. Hill will match his Hot and Provocative recipe against longtime MLP supporter Dr. Roy Krochmal and his secret family recipe. Held at a private residence in Coconut Grove, Miami Light Project’s summer BBQ Throwdown is a perfect way to spend a hot summer night supporting the arts.
Brimstone127, creator of MLP’s P.A.T.H. summer youth program, will supply the musical delights and celebrity judges will include Grammy Award nominated super producer and songwriter Desmond Child, actor Carlos M. Caballero and others.
About the fundraiser, Marlon A. Hill, MLP Board Chairman says, “At Miami Light Project, our middle name is fun with friends in support of the arts. The summer is a perfect time to celebrate our past season and to inspire each other for the upcoming year. This is one of our signature events. You should not miss it!”
Tickets for this year’s summer BBQ Throwdown include all you can eat BBQ, cocktails and desserts, as well as 2 tickets to a 2010 Global Cuba Fest concert.
