New World School of the Arts presents One-Person Shows at the GableStage

March 6, 2012. 7:30 p.m.

Four popular One-Person Shows by BFA graduating college seniors from the Theater Division at New World School of the Arts will present their original scripts at GableStage as a fundraising event. All proceeds will go to New World to help cover the cost of sending the college senior class to New York City in May as part of their Senior Showcase where they will perform for NYC producers and agents.

The four shows are:

Mary Sunshine by Ashley Chang. A quirky, fun spoof of ‘performance art’. Where is the old proverbial ‘hook’ to get someone off the stage when you need it?!

The Magical Journey of Abraham and the Moon by Luis Restrepo. A faraway land, a hero in search of his mother, a guiding moon, an iron beast, danger, magic, and adventure. This is the all-too-real story of the migrant children, as seen through magical eyes of a singular child.

Oo, Mr. Corey, You Bad! By Devon Dassaw. A Baptist minister meets his congregation for the last time – and what he has to say is The Gospel Truth. Be prepared to go to church and respond to his holler!

Who Are You? by José Ignacio Elósegui. A young man’s story of all the important moments of his life and how they have shaped his identity. Middle school and high school was never this painful or funny!

General admission is $20.00. Students with I.D. $10. For tickets, please call 305.445.1119.
