The African Heritage Youth Theatre presents a playwriting workshop with young, New York-based playwright Deaon Griffin-Pressley.
Deaon Griffin-Pressley is a New York City based playwright, actor, director and teaching artist (originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida) He has studied at the British American Drama Academy (BADA) in Oxford, England. Upon graduating he has featured in many of Shakespeare’s classics with many Off Broadway and regional theatres including: Shakespeare & Company, The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, The American Globe Theatre, Oxford Shakespeare Company & Hypokrit Theatre Company. His original plays have been produced with New Federal Theatre, Rhymes Over Beats, The Fringe Festival NYC, Manhattan Repertory Theatre Festival, Thespis NY Theater Festival, The National Black Theatre in Harlem, Venus/Adonis Theater Festival, & the DC Black Theater Festival. He is an alumni of the Emerging Black Playwrights Group with the Liberation Theatre Company.
