Sheba: A Jewish Chamber Music Ensemble

Temple Israel Arts. March 2nd, 2008. 3:00 p.m.Temple Israel Arts. Miami ArtsSheba is a vocal and instrumental chamber ensemble comprised of four young Jewish and/or Israeli music students from The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Sheba presents a program designed to make classical music available to the entire community by introducing Jewish classical composers, pairing Jewish composers with well known Jewish pieces, and showcasing their collaborative talent by performing known Jewish songs with an individual and modern twist.

Sheba is formed by Gabrielle Fink, violin; Talya Smilowitz, voice; Leat Sabbah, cello; Alicia Kravitz, flute; with guest artist, Alan Mason, piano. Their repertoire includes works by Achron, Bloch, Carlebach, Gershwin, Bernstein, familiar Jewish songs, niggunim, and more. The event will take place at the Temple Israel of Greater Miami located at 137 NE 19th Street in Miami.
