Symphony of the Americas performs Rachmaninov and Elgar, “Songs for a Desert Island”

Tuesday, February 11th, 8:15 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.

February will bring one the most beautiful concert events of the year. Music so iconic that when people were asked which classical pieces they would most want with them if stranded on a desert island they would prefer these pieces to any other.

“Rachmaninov and Elgar, “Songs for a Desert Island”, presented by Symphony of the Americas will bring audiences the pleasure of two Internationally acclaimed artists presenting two memorable pieces in one evening.

Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 will be performed by Ciro Fodere. Winner of the Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofieff International Competition, Ciro Fodere has been described as “masterful, electric, fiery, and lyrical”.

Iris van Eck, principal cellist for the Symphony, will perform Elgar’s Concerto in E minor, Op. 85. Iris studied at the Royal Conservatory in Holland and is the Artistic Director of South Florida’s Chameleon Musicians Chamber Series.
