Tigertail's Moon Over Miami Party

May 17th, 2008.

Miami is famous for its luscious full moon, especially when it hangs over the wide-open sub-tropical sky and seems to take part in the Magic City's raucous and distinctively flavored nightlife. Tigertail Productions, one of South Florida's longest-running non-profit presenters of innovative cultural events, has appropriately chosen Moon Over Miami as the theme and title of their annual fundraising event, to be held on Saturday, May 17th, 2008 from 8:00 to 11:00 pm.

The evening takes place at the recently renovated Ichimura Japanese Garden on Miami's Watson Island, in the middle of Biscayne Bay. This exquisite local gem is often overlooked by residents, but for the Moon Over Miami party it will serve both as setting and inspiration. Attendees are encouraged to dress in Asian-inspired outfits or to hark back to Hollywood's Golden Age stars, such as actors Don Ameche, Betty Grable and Robert Cummings, who were the leads in the classic 1941 film Moon Over Miami. The Ichimura Japanese Garden is located at 1101 MacArthur Causeway, adjacent to the former Parrot Jungle, recently renamed Jungle Island. One can arrive by car – there is free, secure parking – or boat!

Moon Over Miami will include a silent auction of original artwork from Miami's trend-setting best; live entertainment; a "gossip booth" with long-time South Florida publisher Jim Mullin. Miami's own arts activist Merle Weiss will be the celebrity doorperson, along with the Man in the Moon by Clifton Childree. To purchase tickets visit Tigertail's website.
